ARTIST RESIDENCY & GALLERY IN THESSALONIKI
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAMMES
bEam arts is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to supporting artistic and intellectual exploration through a different programs, including residencies, exhibitions, research initiatives, and community-focused events. We want to provide an active and supportive environment for artists, writers, and designers who seek space and time to create, experiment, and connect. With a focus on cross-disciplinary dialogue and cultural exchange, our institution fosters opportunities for collaboration, learning, and the sharing of ideas both locally and internationally.
The international residency is one of our core programs, offering selected artists access to well-equipped facilities, individual studios, and a shared exhibition space. Designed to encourage openness and experimentation, the residency invites creatives from diverse backgrounds to develop their work in a vibrant and welcoming context. Residents are also encouraged to engage with the community through events, workshops, and presentations, contributing to the evolving cultural life of the city.
Applications for the residency are currently open through an annual open call.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of bEam arts is to provide a space where each artists can feel free to create and explore their artistic ideas. We encourage artists to take ownership of their program and use the space in a way that best suits their needs. Our goal is to foster an environment that inspires creativity and allows artists to fully immerse themselves into their work, network within our growing community and be mentored by team members. Each artist-in-residence is expected to develop their proposed project.
PROGRAMMES
At the moment, we offer two residencies an international artist residency and a writers residency, in Thessaloniki, Greece. It focus on providing time and space for creative development to artists from around the globe.In the near future, we’re excited to expand our program to include workshops, bursaries, and fellowships designed to support a wider range of artists and practices. These upcoming opportunities will create new ways to connect, learn, and grow within our community — stay tuned!
FACILITIES
STUDIOS
The studios are located in a shared space divided into individual workspaces, each approximately 10 square meters. Each workspace comes with a desk and a storage unit. The studios are available from 8 am to 10 pm
EXHIBITION SPACE
The residency space transforms into an exhibition space where the final show takes place.
WORKSHOP
A well equipped communal workshop for small to large scale projects.
STUDY AREA
The separate space above the studios and workshop is a clean area for meetings and desk work.
BACKYARD
The backyard that can be used as a relaxation area or adapted to suit the needs of specific projects.
ACCOMODATION
We offer private accommodation through our collaboration with Thess Residences. Each resident artist is provided with a fully serviced apartment featuring a kitchenette. The apartments are just a one-minute walk from the studios. Check out an example of an apartment here.
